Holding of the Second Workshop (10-11 April, Tokyo)

The second workshop of the joint study was held in Tokyo from 10-11 April, 2008, with the participation of study members. The purpose of the workshop was (a) to share the results of the country studies, (b) to discuss, identify and agree on the major, common issues to be focused in the synthesis study, (c) to exchange views on possible direction of the recommendations of the joint study in view of providing inputs to the synthesis study and recommendations, and (d) to discuss and agree on the communication strategies of the study towards the HLF-III to promote the buy-in of the study results.

10 Apr
- Session I: Country/Regional Experience and Lessons Learned
Presentation of country study results by each country and discussion
11 Apr
- Session II: Thematic Experiences and Lesson Learned
Group discussion focusing on the six main themes
- Session III: Direction of the Synthesis Study and Key Messages
Discussion and agreement on major, common issues for the synthesis study and possible direction of the key messages and recommendations
Communication strategies about how to effectively promote the buy-in pf these messages and recommendations in the preparation process towards the HLF-III
