The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is sending emergency supplies to Mozambique where two cyclones in late January caused heavy rains and gales, causing floods and damaging buildings across the country.
So far 32 persons were killed and 120,000 were affected according to the government on February 2.
Following the country’s request for international assistance, JICA agreed to send portable jerry cans, generators and other supplies totaling JPY19 million (USD244,000) which are being airlifted from the agency’s Johannesburg and other warehouses to the southern African country.
