On July 11, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a loan agreement with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta to provide a Japanese ODA loan of up to 30.980 billion yen for the Jakarta Sewerage Development Project (Zone 6) (Phase 1).

This project involves constructing the first advanced, large-scale wastewater treatment plant, along with sewerage pipes in Jakarta, with the objectives of promoting proper wastewater treatment, improving the living environment and the sanitation for residents, and conserving the aquatic environment.
