At the Entrance of Uzbekistan Japan Center(Bukhara Office)
Uzbekistan was a monocultural cotton economy during the Soviet era, but with its independence in 1991, the country entered the market economy. Under the present government’s management of its economy, moderate economic reforms have been carried out.
Among the former republics of the Soviet Union, Uzbekistan has had the lowest productivity decline with only moderate inflation. It is presently pursuing an educational policy that has shifted away from the former Soviet educational system in human resources development to an educational system that will foster efficient human resources in accordance with global standards.
The Japan Center is Uzbekistan’s first ODA based comprehensive institution for human resources development. Presently, business courses, a twenty-week Professional Management Program for entrepreneurs, and other professional programs are offered. The number of graduates of the Center’s business courses surpassed 1,300 people as of January 2005.
Uzbekistan Japan Center was open in August 2001 at Tashkent. And Bukhara Office was open in March 2007.
