Following the adoption of the Doi Moi (Renovation) policy in 1986, Viet Nam’s economy has continued to develop through economic reforms and an open-door policy. Despite an economic slowdown due to the impact of an economic crisis in Asia after 1997, private companies were rapidly established with the legislation of the company law in 2000, which contributed to an economic recovery.
Since then, Viet Nam has maintained a high GDP growth rate. With its entry to the WTO and AFTA related tariff reductions, fostering human resources in the public sector capable of dealing with competition from a global perspective is an urgent issue.
The Japan Centers in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City provide practical, short-term business courses for company managers, administrators, and other business personnel, in addition to Japanese language courses due to Japanese companies that are active in Viet Nam, and activities to promote mutual understanding of the society and culture of both countries and to strengthen the network of social and business contacts.
