Donor support to private sector development in sub-Saharan Africa
Working paper is a new style of the JICA Research Papers. This is the first working paper and also the first output of the JICA-ODI joint research work, which started in July 2007. The JICA-ODI joint research is attractive method for both organizations because of the wider range of perspectives and other working papers will be released by next year.
This study examines how one type of Japanese support, the one-village one-product (OVOP) approach, fits with other donor approaches and how it relates to the development of small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). It also presents some preliminary findings from Malawi’s experience of OVOP.
