Training Program

Training Courses in Various Fields of Development

Knowledge Co-Creation Program

Eligible Training Candidates

Indonesian technicians, researchers, engineers, practitioners and administrators who are nominated officially by the Government of Indonesia (The Bureau for Foreign Technical Cooperation-The State Secretariat/SETNEG) are eligible to apply for the training courses.

The conditionality (requirements and age limits) for application is varied from one course to another. The interested applicant is encouraged to refer to the intended course’ outline for details (please check the list of courses offered), while notwithstanding the basic requirements as follows:

  • Applicant should be an Indonesian Citizen
  • Applicant should possess sufficient command of English both spoken and written
  • Applicant should be physically fit and healthy to undergo training. For certain training courses, pregnancy could be regarded as disqualification
  • Applicant should not be a military personnel
  • Selected participant is not allowed to change either the duration or the contents of the course and to extend his/her stay after the training
  • No family member is allowed to accompany the selected participant
  • Selected participant is not allowed to re-route his/her designated flights
  • Selected participant is not allowed to be involved in any form of political activity or engaged in any form of employment during a training course
  • All rules and regulations related to logistics and accommodation in Japan must be observed by each participant

Application Process

  • The invitation for each course with General Information (GI) of the course would be circulated and announced officially by the Government of Indonesia through the Bureau for Technical Cooperation-The State Secretariat (SETNEG) to the relevant institution(s)
  • The applicant should ensure that the “Application Form” is completed in English and that the necessary supporting documents, such as questionnaire and/or report required for the specific course, are enclosed with the Form. For details, please refer to the General Information (GI)
  • The completed “Application Form” should be officially signed and approved by the ministry or institution, which the applicant belongs to, and officially sent to SETNEG. Please do not send the “Application Form” directly to JICA
  • SETNEG would officially endorse the selected “Application Form(s)” and officially submit the Form(s) to JICA Indonesia
  • The applicant who has been selected would be notified by JICA Indonesia through an official written document (“Acceptance Letter”) and would be required to attend a pre-departure briefing for an overview of the training course.
  • As part of JICA’s follow-up cooperation with the returnees from the training courses in Japan, all participants are encouraged to become members of the Alumni Program

Application Form

Expenses Covered by JICA

In principal, the costs of all training courses provided by JICA are borne by the Government of Japan. The expenses and allowances provided by JICA for the participants are as follows:

  • Round-trip air ticket (between the designated airport of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta and Japan)
  • Free accommodation either in a JICA training center or a hotel
  • Daily allowances (including for meal)
  • Outfit and stationary allowance
  • Domestic travel and transportation costs in Japan

Notes: All necessary expenses in Indonesia before departure to Japan and after arrival from Japan , such as domestic travel cost (such as air fare), the airport tax at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, fiscal fee, and visa fee (for participants with non-official/diplomatic passports), as well as other necessary domestic accommodation fee and allowance, should be borne by each selected participant (Indonesian side).
