JICA Indonesia Office

Established on May 8, 2003, the JICA-NGO Desk is a unit of the JICA Indonesia Office with the main task to establish and foster good relations with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Non-Profitable Organizations (NPOs) of Japan and Indonesia as well as to facilitate the interaction and cooperation between them.

NGOs and NPOs are front-runners in the implementation of various economic and social empowerment efforts/initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of the marginalized people, owing to their direct access and interaction with the grassroots level. Thus, NGOs and NPOs are to be treated as the trusted partners for every stakeholder engaged in development programs.

The main roles of JICA-NGO Desk Indonesia include:

• Nurturing and developing relations and ties between Japanese and Indonesian NGOs and NPOs;
• Strengthening the quality of JICA's NGO network through capacity development activities;
• Supporting the various JICA schemes targeting the community empowerment in the grassroots level;
• Facilitation of cooperation opportunity for JICA's partner NGOs with the third parties, especially the private sector;
• Providing consultations for NGOs in conducting community development projects in Indonesia, particular those in collaboration with JICA.
