Training Opportunities

Who Are Eligible?

JICA courses are generally focused on technical aspect which are targeted for training technicians, researchers and administrators in the recipient country. In principal, applicants should be nominated by the government authority (applicant's department and the Public Service Department (JPA)).

Invitation of courses is usually channel to JPA and it is in turn circulated and announced by JPA to relevant organizations under the government. So, courses organized by JICA are intended for government officials in the government sectors, staff of corporatized government organization, statutory bodies, universities, research institutes and government education institutions.

JICA do not hold training activities for private groups or individuals and neither consider applications that are submitted separately by the same.

Requirement and age limit for application varied from course to course. Interested applicant is encouraged to refer to course outline for detail. However, minimum requirement set by JPA is has at least 3 years in service and permanent confirmed post with the Government.

Other basic conditions required:

  • Applicant should be Malaysian Citizen
  • Application is subject to the approval of Malaysian Government
  • Sufficient command of English both in spoken and written
  • Physically fit and healthy to undergo training
  • Non military personnel, or working in Ministry of Defence
  • In principal, applicant is not allow to reschedule the duration of the course and neither the course contents or to extend stay after the training
  • No family members should be accompanied for the course
  • Candidate is not allow to reroute return flight unless with valid reason official purpose only
  • Candidate is not allow to be involved in political activities or engaged in any form of employment during course
  • All rules and regulations of the place of accommodation must be Observed

Pre-requisites for counterpart training is determined by collaborative agencies of JICA project and the Japanese counterparts involved. So, flexibility to some extend is allowed in commending the candidate to undergo the program.

Age limit for long term training for Master's is fixed at 35 and 40 for doctoral program and other conditions specified by the university.
