After a lapse of about 20 months, the Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) established in 2005 when the JSCoT Project commenced its operations, held a meeting to discuss the progress of the Project since the last meeting of the JCC in February 2008 and policy-related challenges faced by the Project on 29 October 2009 at the Ministry of Vocational and Technical Training (MVTT) in Colombo.

The meeting, chaired by the Secretary to the Ministr, Mr Thilak Hapangama, saw the attendance of all the Heads of the institutions that come under the purview of the Ministry. From the Japanese side, the Second Secretary (Economic Cooperation Section) of the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, the Senior Representative of JICA Sri Lanka and the Representative of JICA Sri Lanka attended the meeting.

The additional director of the Sri Lanka College of Technology, who is also the Project Manager of the Project, presented the progress of the Project since the last JCC meeting while the Consultant on Know How Dissemination spoke of the policy-related implementation challenges of the Project.

The meeting enabled the Project to obtain clarifications on some of the key issues it faces as it prepares for JICA’s final evaluation planning on 1st Quarter year of 2010. At the request of JICA’s Representative in Sri Lanka, the Secretary agreed to hold the final meeting of the JCC about three months prior to the closure of the Project in June 2010.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Director General of the Department.
