Arrival of the relief supplies
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has dispatched emergency relief supplies to Thailand in response to the flood disaster which have ravaged the country in recent days. The aid goods arrived on 14 October.
Emergency goods worth JPY 30 million (USD 391,000) were dispatched from JICA's Singapore warehouse, and a handover ceremony was held at 17:40 (local time) on that day.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Seiji Kojima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Thailand and Mr. Kazuhiro Yoneda, Chief Representative of JICA Thailand Office.
Amongst the attendees from Thailand side was Mr. Pracha Promnok, Minister of Justice, who is currently directing the flood disaster response operations.
During the ceremony, Mr. Promnok expressed his gratitude for Japan's relief efforts. He also acknowledged that Japan has been affected by its own disaster and stated that he wishes to work together towards rehabilitation.

In response, Ambassador Kojima expressed his thanks for the supportive messages and donations from a multitude of Thais, as well as the royal family, which Japan received at the time of the earthquake. He also said it was an honor to be able to provide small return gifts with these relief goods.
All goods will be distributed through the Thai government to victims of the disasters. JICA will conduct necessary monitoring on the distribution and use of the emergency goods.
