Emergency Assistance for Amazon rainforest fires in the Federative Republic of Brazil

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to a request from the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil relating to Amazon rainforest fires.

1. Disaster situation
Recent Amazon rainforest fires has been causing serious damage. According to Brazil National Institute for Space Research , the damage situation as of August was as follows:
Affected forest area 2,200km2

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Miami)
Sleeping pads

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to Brasilia on the next available flight.
