On August 8, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Islamabad, to provide grant aid of up to 3.62 billion yen for the Project for the Extension of Intensive Care at Maternal and Child Health Care Centre and Children’s Hospital in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
In order to consolidate and enhance the diagnostic and therapeutic facilities for the high-risk perinatal period, this project aims to construct a new facility and provide medical equipment, such as neonatal incubators, to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, one of the leading core hospitals in Pakistan.
It is expected to improve the delivery of medical and health care services to high-risk expectant and nursing mothers, widows and newborn infants at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
