Beneficiaries of JICA Training Programs to Hold A Public Relations Activity in Zanzibar on 5th December, 2020

The JICA Alumni Association of Tanzania (JATA) will conduct a seminar on the creation of public awareness on the likely social and economic impact on the society following the COVID-19 pandemic. Details of the seminar are as follows:

Date: 5th December, 2020
Time: 08:30 am to 4:15 pm
Venue: Matemwe - Zanzibar
Guest of Honor: Hon. Lela Mohammed MUSSA - Ministry of Tourism and Heritage

Note: Registration for attending members from the press will commence at 9: 30am.

In the context of the above, the JICA Alumni Association of Tanzania (JATA) will organize a one-day seminar on 5th December, 2020, with the purpose of creating awareness amongst the people on the likely socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 in the immediate and near future, as well as on livelihoods at individual and household levels. Moreover, the seminar will assess the impact of the pandemic on the small-scale entrepreneurships in the sustainable development of Zanzibar.

The program will also include a field visit to small scale water facility and an industrial establishment aimed at ascertaining how such facilities have been affected by the global pandemic. Through well researched presentations, participants will be further enlightened on the following issues:

  • Key sectors facing risks as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic (i.e. tourism, transportation, agriculture, and wholesale trade),
  • How Zanzibar can participate in the economic recovery program during and after the global pandemic,
  • Impact of the global pandemic as a health crisis and its threat on the social, economic and political aspects for the next few years, and
  • Creation of awareness to key stakeholders on specific measures to be taken in the prevention and control of the global pandemic.

This event is one of the activities which are organized by JATA, and is open to all members of the Association. Earlier this year, JATA managed to hold other equally interesting activities, including a visit to a factory owned by a JICA ex-participant in addition to scheduled visits to some projects being implemented by JICA. Any person who had had the opportunity of training in Japan via sponsorship by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is qualified as a member of JATA, more than welcomed to join this seminar and the rest of the program, and become an active member of the Association.
