JICA signed the Grant Agreement for JDS

JICA and the Government of Bangladesh signed the 393 million JPY (approximately 3.6 million USD) Grant Agreement on Japanese Grant for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) on 22 May.

JDS is the project which provides distinguished officials, who are expected to contribute of the development of Bangladesh, to study for two years in post graduate schools of Japanese universities.

JDS has sent 268 officials to Japan since 2002 and 226 of them have been awarded master's degree. The academic area is Public Administration, Economic Planning, Urban and Rural Development, Public Finance and Legal Policy.

After completion of their studies, they are expected to work with the specific knowledge acquired in Japan in planning and implementing in social and economic development of Bangladesh and also are expected to contribute to expand and strengthen the friendly relationship between Japan and Bangladesh.

Under this agreement, 30 officials are going to fly to Japan in this summer
