Japanese Engineer to work with BUET to produce low cost fuel efficient vehicle

Mr. Norihisa Matsumoto, JICA Volunteer will work with BUET Mechanical Engineering Department to produce low cost fuel efficient vehicle. The 28 years old mechanical engineer arrived in Dhaka on 7th February, 2014 along with 4 other JICA Volunteers.

This time 5 JICA Volunteers arrived in Bangladesh to work in various sectors. Beside Mr. Norihisha, two volunteers will be working in the sector of Primary School Education, one volunteer will be working in Infection & HIV/AIDS Control and another volunteer will be working to develop the community radio in Bangladesh. All of them will continue their activities' for 2 years.

The 5 members met with Mr. Mikio Hataeda, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office and described their target activities.

JICA's volunteer program has been one of its core programs for the last 40 years through which the Government of Japan is extending technical support to Bangladesh in diversified sectors. Total number of present volunteers in Bangladesh is 75 including 3 senior volunteers. Since 1973, the volunteers have been working in Bangladesh to support its effort to improve the lives of people with diversified field of expertise. They extend assistance to the citizens and villagers with friendly smiles. The volunteers reach out to the needs of local communities and try to find the ways how to solve their problems together with their local counterparts. The volunteers work in all over the country by integrating with the communities using the Bengali language.
