An 11 member batch of JICA Volunteers has arrived in Bangladesh on the 28th of March, 2014.
The 11 volunteers will work for 2 years in different sectors. Among them 7 will work in the health sector in different areas of Bangladesh under the Civil Surgeon Offices, 2 for environmental education in Dhaka under Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation, 1 will work for Women Technical Training College in Rajshahi as an computer instructor, and 1 will work as a basketball coach in Bangladesh Krira Shikhkha Protisthan (BKSP), Savar, Dhaka.
The 11 members met with Mr. Mikio Hataeda, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office and described their target activities.

JICA's volunteer program has been one of its core programs for the last 40 years through which the Government of Japan is extending technical support to Bangladesh in diversified sectors. Total number of present volunteers in Bangladesh is 74. Since 1973, the volunteers have been working in Bangladesh to support its effort to improve the lives of people with diversified field of expertise. They extend assistance to the citizens and villagers with friendly smiles. The volunteers reach out to the needs of local communities and try to find the ways how to solve their problems together with their local counterparts. The volunteers work in all over the country by integrating with the communities using the Bengali language.
