DHAKA, September 1, 2014 –Bangladesh today achieved Information Technology Professional Examination Council (ITPEC) membership that enables the country to give internationally recognized certificate for the IT professionals and graduates.
The Japan-based Information Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), a regulatory body for evaluating the Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) conferred the ITPEC membership on Bangladesh at a function held today at the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC). On the occasion a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the BCC and the IPA. Executive Director of BCC SM Asfak Hossain and Vice Chairman of IPA Hisaya Tanaka inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique attended the occasion as chief guest. State Minister for ICT division Junaid Ahmed Palak and Japan Ambassador Shiro Sadoshima were present as special guests while ICT division secretary Md. Nazrul Islam Khan was in the chair.
Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Mr. Mikio Hataeda, Representative of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Mr. Kei Kawano, Deputy Director General of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Mr. Hideyuki Ohashi and IT Engineer Management Project Director of BCC Sheikh Amzad Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
The ITEE is basically a national standardized examination of Japan for IT professionals where five to six lakh IT students and IT professionals attended every year.
In Bangladesh, the ICT division under Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology ministry introduced ITEE under a project titled "Capacity Building on ITEE Management" with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with a view to give a global recognition to the skills, knowledge and experience of Bangladesh IT professionals.
Abdul Latif Siddique said as the member of ITPEC now Bangladesh has the authority to hold Information Technology Engineers Examinations (ITEE) every year.
He said the ITEE is the examination for evaluating skill of IT engineers and successful candidates will get global recognition, which will ensure easy access to job markets.
Junaid Ahmed Palak said the ITPEC membership will help Bangladesh to export its skilled IT human resources worldwide.
N I Khan said the ITEE will play an important role to develop confidence among the Bangladesh IT engineers for competing in the global job markets.
ITEE test is recognized in 12 Asian countries including the second largest IT job market Japan and also honored in the markets of European and American countries.
