Ms. Rasheda K. Choudhury, Executive Director, Campaign for Popular Education and Former Adviser to Caretaker Government,
Mr. Hiroyuki Minami, Charge d' Affaires ad interim, the Embassy of Japan Mr. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Information & Communication Technology Division,
Ladies and gentlemen.
First, I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate all the twenty two passers of the 2nd IT Engineers Examination, ITEE, in Bangladesh which was conducted last April.
These twenty two passers are now certified as international IT engineers with decent skills and knowledge. They are expected, as ITEE certified engineers, to actively serve in IT related industry in Bangladesh and foreign countries as well including Japan. They are also counted on for establishing the Bangladesh brand in the world as a destination for IT offshore as well as an IT human resource base.
ITEE is an effective initiative not only to accredit Bangladeshi IT professionals as world–class engineers but also to stimulate human resource development necessary for advancing "Digital Bangladesh."
As a matter of fact, when Honorable Prime Ministers Shinzo Abe and Sheikh Hasina agreed to elevate the Japan-Bangladesh bilateral relationship to a new height called "Japan-Bangladesh Comprehensive Partnership" during their summit in Tokyo last May, the two Prime Ministers, in their Joint Statement, welcomed the introduction of ITEE in Bangladesh and expressed their expectation for development of IT related industry.
Accordingly, it can be said that all ITEE certified engineers are honored and privileged to take part in addressing the top-priority issue for Bangladesh.
Ladies and gentlemen,
JICA has been supporting the introduction of ITEE in Bangladesh since 2012 by dispatching two long-term experts and two long-term volunteers. They have worked together with Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and BD-ITEC to implement ITEE as the most authoritative assessment for IT skill.
Here I am very happy to mention that, commended for the successful implementation of the 1st and 2nd ITEE, Bangladesh has got admitted to be an official member of IT Professional Examination Council, ITPEC, the host organization of ITEE whose current members are Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. It is planned to hold a ceremony for the membership with all the member countries in Dhaka in September this year and to conduct the next ITEE nationwide in October as a member of ITPEC.
I wish all the parties concerned to continue every effort going forward as a worthy member of ITPEC, thereby inducing the development of IT related industry in Bangladesh. We at JICA are pleased to sustain our support.
Dhonnobad. Thank you.
