Svay Rieng Agro-Products Cooperative (SAC) opened an open-air shop on February 14, 2012 at Boeung Trabek market, Phnom Penh.

The opening shop is one of the primary activities of the Project on "Development of Supply and Distribution System for vegetable in Svay Rieng" which has been implementing by a Japanese NGO, International Volunteer Center Yamagata (IVY), under JICA Partnership Program. The project targets 60 villages in Svay Rieng province by supporting the farmer's organization to establish as a registered farmer's cooperative and expand its market.

SAC has been collecting vegetables from local farmers and providing regular supply to a hotel and other shops at Cambodia-Vietnam border town of Bavet. Through their market research, they have concluded that their products have a good chance in competitive Phnom Penh market. The opening of the shop is to meet the demand of safe local vegetables for people in Phnom Penh. SAC and their products have special values as the followings:

Products are:

  • Safe (no chemical pesticide is used)
  • Directly purchased from farmer by Cooperative
  • Delicious and fresh

SAC is:

  • Supported by an Japanese NGO under JICA's Project
  • Honest with customers on their vegetable's origin and price

By buying their products, the buyer can:

  • Help to improve farmers lives by increasing their income from vegetable
