Journal by OJT Staff [1] (Accompanied JICA Experts for On-site Inspection in Waterworks)

ជម្រាបសួរ(Hello)!

I'm Yuko ASAKAWA, doing on the job training in JICA Cambodia Office.

I'll report activities of JICA in Cambodia from the perspective of a new staff until the end of October!

***

In the beginning of September, I joined "the Project on Strengthening Administrative Capacity of Urban Water Supply" for a week, and accompanied JICA experts from Kita-Kyushu City to access the performance of private waterworks in Siem Reap.

Most private waterworks in Cambodia are small and family-run, and they may face technical challenges to operate.

In the on-site inspection, experts checked condition of water treatment plants installments, and tested the water quality and pressure. Based on the result of inspection, they made recommendation to improve their operation.

Water plays significant role to support human life. In order to ensure its quality, JICA develops capacity of government officials in General Department of Water Supply in Ministry of Industry and Handicraft.

Next time, I will introduce the activity of JOCV in Kampong Thom.
