Stakeholder meeting of Preparatory Survey of a Project for Improvement of Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport

On 13 April 2018, Mr. Hiroyuki Ueda, Senior Advisor of JICA and Mr. Teruo Hanada, Chief Consultant of a survey Team, Japan Airport Consultant made presentation about interim result of a Preparatory Survey for the Project for Improvement of Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport at an occasion of stakeholder meeting organized by ANATL.

JICA started a preparatory survey of a Project for Improvement of Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport from 1 April. Objectives of the survey are to verify necessity and relevance of the Project as well as to formulate appropriate Project Implementation Plan under Japan's Grant Assistance Scheme through basic design and project cost estimate, etc.

As a beginning stage of the survey, JICA dispatched a mission i) to confirm a scope of the Project, ii) to explain a scheme of Japan's Grant Aid Project and the preparatory survey and iii) to collect basic information for planning, designing and cost estimation of the Project. The mission member consists of two JICA members and thirteen consultant members from Japan Airport Consultants, Inc. and Oriental Consultants Global.

As a course of the survey, the mission team had a chance to explain to stakeholders about their tentative idea such as layout plan, scope of the project, future plan, etc. The consultant members will continue collecting necessary information until the beginning of May, and JICA will finalize an Outline Design of the Project by November 2018.
