During the upcoming months, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) will start "Egypt Census 2016" which is the first E-Census that will fully depend on modern technologies such as tablet PC's and geographic information systems (GIS) to provide accurate, quick and reliable results for decision makers in order to plan better future policies and strategies to improve the Egyptian people's lives.
JICA Egypt Office contributes to "Egypt Census 2016" by handing over 450 tablets to CAPMAS on December 1st to be utilized in quality control operations of the Census, and later on in the many surveys that CAPMAS will conduct in the coming future.
A ceremony was held at the CAPMAS premises where the handover was inaugurated by Mr. Teruyuki Ito, Chief Representative of JICA Egypt Office, and Gen. Abo Bakr Elgendy, President of CAPMAS.
The handover ceremony took place on the sidelines of a seminar for Japanese experts on "Quality Control and Enhancement of Capacity of CAPMAS's staff" under the cooperation by JICA and the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications from November 27th to December 1st.
