Ambassador Fayza Mohamed Aboulnaga received the JICA Recognition Award from Ms. Noriko Suzuki, the Senior Vice President of JICA, on the occasion of the 14th Board of Trustee (BOT) meeting of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) on December 5, 2016.
The JICA Recognition Award is presented to individuals or groups to express JICA's gratitude for the significant contributions to the development of human resources or society of developing countries through JICA's activities. This year, 13 persons and 5 organizations are awarded from the four corners of the world.
Ambassador Aboulnaga, the Chairperson of the BOT of E-JUST, has been committed to E-JUST, the university under the partnership between the government of Egypt and Japan, since the conceptual stage.
E-JUST was established as the university with the concepts such as "small number of students, research-oriented and graduate school" and "offering practical and international level of education" that utilize the characteristics of Japanese engineering education. Since its inception in 2010, more than 150 graduates (PhD or Master Degree) were produced. In addition, E-JUST has been started to receive the international students from African countries since 2016 in order to become the hub university in Africa and Middle East in the field of Science and Technology.
Ambassador Aboulnaga has been making great contributions to strengthening the relationship between Egypt and Japan, including the Egypt-Japan Education Partnership (EJEP). For this contribution, JICA decided to present the Ambassador this Recognition Award.
