JICA will provide emergency supplies to Paraguay in response to damage caused by floods, after receiving a request from the Paraguayan government.
Damage caused by floods since May 2014 in the Republic of Paraguay has spread throughout the country. According to an investigation by Secretary of National Emergency, the victims as of June 13 include three people killed and 26,034 family units affected. (According to some media reports, approximately 33,000 family units/165,000 people have been affected.)
The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency supplies including 320 tents with a total value of approximately US$190,000.
The supplies will be delivered to Asunción using the earliest available flight.
