JICA Helps Burkina Faso Improve Its Dried Mangoes and Expand the Market

Burkina Faso mainly exports its organic dried mangoes to Europe, but the small enterprises responsible for processing them are aiming to improve sanitation and quality management and expand the market. As part of the Project for the Formulation of a Master Plan for Market-Oriented Agriculture, JICA is helping come up with models for improvement. It will also support the export of the mangoes to Japan. The amount of mangoes processed is estimated at 7,500 tons per year, making it an important industry, along with the export of fresh food.
