JICA, Jordanian Government to Begin Electricity Sector Master Plan Study
A new English pamphlet overviews agency's power-related assistance in the country

JICA and the Jordanian government will begin a master plan study for the electricity sector in Jordan in January 2015.

The goal of the study is to provide a stable and economical supply of electricity to Jordan for the long term.

The study plan was formalized at a ceremony held Oct. 2 at the headquarters of Jordan's National Electric Power Company (NEPCO). In addition to NEPCO, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) will cooperate with JICA on the study. It will cover the period from 2015 to 2034.

The study will aim to produce a long-term demand forecast, a master plan for generation and transmission expansion, a strategic environmental assessment and a NEPCO investment plan.

The JICA Jordan Office produced an English pamphlet entitled “JICA's Cooperation for Electricity Sector in Jordan” in October.
