Dispatch of Additional Experts in Response to Ebola Outbreak in West Africa

JICA has dispatched two additional experts to Sierra Leone through the World Health Organization in response to the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa.

The decision to dispatch the experts was made by the Government of Japan.

The experts, their affiliations and periods of dispatch are as follows:

Dr. Takuya Adachi Department of Infectious Diseases, Toshima Hospital, Tokyo Metropolitan Health and Medical Treatment Corporation Jan. 3 to Feb. 6

Dr. Tomohiko Koibuchi Department of Infectious Diseases and Applied Immunology, Research Hospital of the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo Dec. 28 to Jan. 30

The Government of Japan is continuing its talks with the WHO with regard to dispatching Japanese experts to Ebola-affected countries. JICA will send experts to such countries at the decision of the government.
