Velioglu, President of JICA Alumni of Turkey, Receives 2014 JICA Recognition Award
The first Turkish recipient helped with aquaculture and agriculture projects

Dr. Huseyin Velioglu, president of the JICA Alumni Association of Turkey, is among seven people to be awarded the 2014 JICA Recognition Award for individuals who have made a long-term contribution to JICA and its activities.

In giving the award, JICA cited the fact that Velioglu “made great efforts to advance cooperation with JICA in the fields of aquaculture and agriculture” during his time in the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, where he served as general director among other positions. Specifically, his ministry and JICA implemented four projects in the Black Sea area.

Velioglu is the first Turkish person to receive the award.

The JICA Alumni Association was established voluntarily by former participants in JICA training in Japan, and it has been operating in Turkey for more than 25 years. JICA Alumni provides a network among former participants as well as sustains the cooperation between JICA and their organizations.
