JICA Provides Additional Emergency Supplies to Malaysia Following Flooding

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide (additional) emergency supplies to Malaysia in response to damage caused by flooding after receiving a request from the Government of Malaysia.

Japan has just delivered emergency supplies to Malaysia following heavy rains that began last month. However, the damage caused by the flooding is on an unprecedented scale in Malaysian history.

220,000 evacuees are about to return home, but the houses of a number of families have been completely destroyed and the families will be forced to live in refugee shelters.

JICA will deliver 120 tents, 1,022 sleeping pads and 1,000 blankets, with a total value of approximately US$80,000.

JICA delivered water tanks and generators (with cord reels) earlier this month, with a total value of approximately US$160,000.
