JICA Provides Emergency Supplies to Madagascar Following Cyclone

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency supplies to the Republic of Madagascar, in response to damage caused by a cyclone, at the request of the Government of Madagascar.

The cyclone that occurred Jan. 16 to 17 caused extensive human and material damage.

According to the Government of Madagascar, 80 people have been killed and 170,000 affected.

JICA will deliver 370 tents, 10 rolls of tarpaulin and 50 water purifiers, with a total value of approximately US$140,000 .

The supplies will be delivered to the capital of Antananarivo using the earliest available flight.
