Additional Emergency Assistance to Sri Lanka in Response to the Garbage Mound Collapse at the Disposal Site

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide additional emergency relief goods as below in response to the request from the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka regarding the Garbage Mound Collapse.
1. Disaster situation
The Garbage Mound Collapse, which happened on 14 April, has caused serious human and property damage. According to the Government of Sri Lanka, the damage situation as of 18 April was as follows:
Deaths 29
Missing 30
Injured 11
Affected 1059
JICA has released emergency relief goods (Tents, Sleeping pads, Portable jerry cans, Water purifiers and Generators on 17 April from Singapore warehouse).

2. Additional Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (purveyed in Japan)
Floodlight equipment
Headlights
Poisonous Gas Detectors
High Accuracy GPSs
Mobile Toilets

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from Narita International Airport to Colombo on the next available flight.
