Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Cuba in Response to Hurricane “Irma” disaster

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the request from the Government of Republic of Cuba regarding the damages caused by Hurricane “Irma”.

1. Disaster situation

The Hurricane “Irma”, which passed Cuba from September 8 to 10, has caused serious human and property damage. According to United Nations Office of the Resident Coordinator in Cuba, approximately 2,000,000 people are taking refuge as of September 11.

2. Goods supplied

A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA Miami warehouse)
- Water purifiers, Portable jerry cans, etc.

B. Shipping schedule
- The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to the Republic of Cuba on the next available flight.
