JICA President Kitaoka Meets With UNEP Head Solheim

JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka met with Mr. Erik Solheim, executive director of the United Nations Environment Programme, on September 5 at JICA Headquarters in Tokyo.

Mr. Kitaoka began the meeting by expressing he would like to deepen JICA's partnership with UNEP to advance the Paris Agreement, an international initiative on climate change. They also discussed the importance of 1. promoting the African Clean Cities Platform through the collaboration between UNEP and JICA, 2. the partnership between JICA, UNEP and the UNEP's International Environmental Technology Centre, and 3. partnerships between UNEP and JICA with the private sector for sustainable development.

JICA will further strengthen its cooperation with UNEP and work together to improve the global environment.
