Emergency Assistance to the Commonwealth of Dominica in Response to Hurricane “Maria” disaster

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the request from the Government of Commonwealth of Dominica regarding the damages caused by Hurricane “Maria”.
1. Disaster situation
The Hurricane “Maria”, which passed Commonwealth of Dominica from September 18 to 19, has caused serious human and property damage. The damage situation as of September 22 was as follows.

Death: 24 persons
Affected: approximately 56,890 persons
Damaged building: 80-90% of building in the country

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA Miami warehouse)
Tents, Blankets, Sleeping Pads, etc.

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to the Commonwealth of Dominica on the next available flight.
