Emergency Assistance to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea in Response to the Damages caused by the Earthquake

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the request from the Government of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea regarding the damages caused by the earthquake.

1. Disaster situation
The earthquake, which happened on February 26th, has caused serious human and property damage. According to the Government of Papua New Guinea and the United Nations, the damage situation as of March 2nd was as follows:
Deaths 67
Injured 574
Affected 140,000 (Approximately)

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA Singapore warehouse)
-Tents
-Blankets
-Plastic sheets
-Sleeping pads
-Portable jerry cans
-Water purifiers
-Water Tanks

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Singapore to Port Moresby on the available flight.
