JICA will dispatch Assessment Team to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on May 29, following amid an outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EVD).
On May 8, the Government of the DRC declared an outbreak of Ebola virus disease. As of May 24, a total of 54 cases (include suspected cases), including 23 deaths, had been reported according to the situation report of WHO.
The Assessment Team, consisting of infectious disease experts and officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will be dispatched on May 29, to investigate the needs of the affected areas and coordinate the possibility of further assistance based on discussions with the Government of DRC and international organizations.
