Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Guatemala in Response to the Eruption of Volcano

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to the request from the Government of the Republic of Guatemala regarding the serious damage caused by the volcanic eruption of the Mt. Fuego.
1. Disaster situation
The volcanic eruption, which happened on June 3 (Local time) has been causing serious human and property damage. According to the government of Guatemala and the UNOCHA, the damage situation as of June 8 is as follows:
Deaths 109
Injured 58
Missing 197
Evacuees 12,407
Affected over 1.7million

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA Miami warehouse)
Sleeping pads

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to Guatemala city on the next available flight.
