Emergency Assistance to Lao PDR in Response to the massive flood

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to a request from the Government of Lao PDR relating to the massive flood.
1. Disaster situation
The flood from a collapsed dam, which happened on 23 July by the heavy rainfall, has been causing serious human and property damage. According to the government of Lao PDR, the damage situation as of 25 July was as follows:
Deaths 26
Missing 131
Evacuees 6,600 (approximately)
Damaged houses 1,300 (approximately)

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Singapore)
Water purifiers

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Singapore to Vientiane on the next available flight.
