JICA Executive Senior Vice President Kazuhiko Koshikawa held talks with Ralph Gonsalves, prime minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (hereafter Saint Vincent), on Aug. 6 at JICA headquarters in Tokyo.
Mr. Koshikawa began the talks by saying that Saint Vincent is an important partner of Japan's and thanking Mr. Gonsalves for his understanding toward Japan and JICA. Mr. Gonsalves thanked JICA for its cooperation in Saint Vincent and said he wants not only Saint Vincent, but also the other countries of the Caribbean, to deepen their ties with Japan. They also discussed the importance of disaster risk reduction, as both countries are prone to natural disasters, and of climate change.
JICA will continue supporting the sustainable development of Saint Vincent, including addressing its characteristic vulnerabilities as an island nation.
