JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka held talks with H.E. Dr. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, President-elect of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly at JICA headquarters on July 25.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of reevaluating human security and strengthening partnership among nations that share common sense in the face of difficulty in maintaining multilateralism in today’s global community, and shared the mutual understanding that the United Nations plays significant role in these efforts. They also discussed peace and security among the international community, talking about how reconciliation is essential to reconstruction, as well as the importance of health, nutrition and education. Also, with TICAD7 to be held soon, Dr. Muhammad-Bande expressed his hopes for further expansion of JICA’s cooperation in Africa.

JICA will continue its efforts to contribute to ensuring human security, peace and development in developing countries in coordination with the United Nations.
