Emergency Assistance to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in Response to Hurricane “Dorian” disaster

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to a request from the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas relating to the Hurricane “Dorian” disaster.

1. Disaster situation
The Hurricane occurred on September 1st to 3rd has caused serious human and property damage. According to the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the damage situation as of September 4th was as follows:
Deaths 20
Affected 76,000
Damaged houses 13,000

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Miami)
Tents
Blankets
Plastic sheets
Portable jerry cans
Water Tanks

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Miami to Nassau on the next available flight.
