Emergency Assistance to the Djibouti in Response to the Heavy Rain and Flood Disaster

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will provide emergency relief goods as below in response to a request from the Government of the Republic of Djibouti relating to the Heavy Rain and Flood Disaster.

1. Disaster situation
The Heavy Rain and Flood Disaster, which happened on November 22, has been causing serious human and property damage. According to UNDP, the damage situation as of November 24 was as follows:
Deaths 9 people (including 7 children)
Affected Djibouti city: 150,000~250,000 people
Tadjourah city: 300 families
Missing 2 people
Evacuees 10,000 people

2. Goods supplied
A. Emergency relief goods (from the JICA warehouse in Dubai)
Tents
Blankets
Sleeping pads
Portable jerry cans

B. Shipping schedule
The goods will be transported from the JICA warehouse in Dubai to Djibouti on the next available flight.
