Outbreak of Measles in the Independent State of Samoa: Dispatch of the second Batch of Japan Disaster Relief Infectious Diseases Response Team

Following the decision by the Government of Japan, JICA will dispatch the second batch of Infectious Diseases Response Team of the Japan Disaster Relief to the Independent State of Samoa in response to the Measles outbreak in the country. The team will depart Japan on 14th December.

JICA has deployed the first batch of the team since 2nd December. The Government of Japan has decided to continue assistance and sending the second batch of the team upon the request of the Government of Samoa.

The team composed of medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and JICA will give assistance to provide clinical care to patients suffering from measles in collaboration with the Government of the Independent State of Samoa, relevant countries, and international organizations.
