Overseas Economic Cooperation Operation

Japan Bank for International Cooperation Activities in July 2000

In July 2000, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) committed 6 loans, worth a total of 26.7 billion yen1. Detail data are as follows:

1. COMMITMENTS:

  • (1) International Financial Operations of JBIC LOANS 6 loans, worth a total of 26.7 billion yen. Detailed data are as follows:

    (a) Export Loans (supplier credits, buyer credits, and bank-to-bank loans for export of goods and services from Japan)
    One commitment, worth 0.2 billion yen, regarding a project to export a post treatment equipment for continuous hot dip galvanizing line to Brazil.
    (b) Import Loans (for import of goods, natural resources and services to Japan)
    None.
    (c) Overseas Investment Loans (for direct investments overseas by Japanese companies)
    Five commitments, worth 26.5 billion yen, including a project for production of automobiles in France.
    (d) Untied Loans (not tied to the procurement of goods and services from Japan)
    None.
    GUARANTEES
    None.
    EQUITY PARTICIPATIONS
    None.
  • (2) Overseas Economic Cooperation Operations of JBIC
    (a) ODA Loans (Loans to governments, government agencies and other eligible organizations of developing countries for their economic and social development and economic stability)
    None.
    (b) Private-Sector Investment Finance (Loans to and/or equity investments in corporations undertaking development projects in developing countries)
    None.
    (c) Special Assistance Facility: SAF
    One contract was concluded.

2. LOAN DISBURSEMENTS, REPAYMENTS AND BALANCES OUTSTANDING

In July 2000, JBIC disbursed 93.6 billion yen and collected 113.6 billion yen. The loans and equity participations outstanding were worth 20,965.1 billion yen and the balance of guarantees outstanding was 365.1 billion yen at the end of the month. Detail data are as follows:

  • (1)International Financial Operations of JBIC
    Disbursement during this period reached 48.2 billion yen while collection amounted to 97.0 billion yen. The loans and equity participations outstanding were worth 10,440.6 billion yen at the end of the month. The balance of guarantees outstanding was 365.1 billion yen.
  • (2)Overseas Economic Cooperation Operations
    Disbursement during this period reached 45.4 billion yen (ODA loans: 45.4 billion yen) while collection amounted to 16.6 billion yen (ODA loans:16.4 billion yen, Private-Sector Investment Finance: 0.2 billion yen). The loans and equity participations outstanding were worth 10,524.5 billion yen (ODA loans: 10,337.8 billion yen, Private-Sector Investment Finance: 186.7 billion yen) at the end of the month.
