On May 28, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Republic of Palau inKoror, to provide grant aid of up to 1.311 billion yen forthe Project for the Construction of National Landfill.
Under this project, sustainable solid waste management will be promoted in Koror State and on Babaldaob Island through the construction of a new national landfill site in Aimeliik State on Babeldaob Island and the provision of equipment needed to maintain the landfill site, thereby contributing to improved sanitation and environmental protection in the Republic of Palau.
