On June 21, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, in Nuku'alofa, to provide grant aid of up to 2.836 billion yen forthe Project for E-Customs and National Single Window for Customs Modernization.
The project will provide, throughout Tonga, a disaster preparedness radio system, a sound alert system, and equipment and facilities to the Tonga Broadcasting Commission (TBC) so that warning and safety information for natural disasters can be promptly transmitted, thereby contributing to a mitigation in the destruction caused by natural disasters.
