On January 11, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire in Abidjan to provide grant aid of up to 5.027 billion yen for the Project for the Improvement of the Japan-Ivorian Friendship Intersection (Phase 2) [1].
Under this project, the flyover at the Japan-Ivorian Friendship Intersection [2] will be made bidirectional with the aims of increasing the road capacity and improving the flow of traffic between the city center and the outlying areas of Abidjan. The first layer of the flyover is currently under construction under the Project for the Improvement of the Japan-Ivorian Friendship Intersection [3], grant aid, and the present project will make the flyover bidirectional with the construction of a second layer.
For the detailed design work of the project, JICA already signed a grant agreement in March 2018 to provide grant aid of up to 168 million yen.
