Signing of Grant Agreement with the Commonwealth of Dominica:Contributing to the revitalization of the fishery industry through restoration and replacement of the fishery facilities and equipment damaged by hurricane

On October 9, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica inRoseau, to provide grant aid of up to 1.072 billion yen for the Project for the Rehabilitation of Fishery Buildings and Equipment in Roseau and Marigot.

Under this project, fishery facilities and equipment damaged by Hurricane Maria in September 2017 will be restored and replaced. It is expected that this project will contribute to the revitalization of the fishery industry in the Commonwealth of Dominica. This project will contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goal 14.

(1) Roseau Fishery Complex: Fishery Center building, exterior facilities
(2) Marigot Fishing Port: Water-proofing work of all buildings, market/administrative building, fishermen’s lockers/toilets building, boat repair building, workshop building, wharf and breakwater concrete
[Equipment]
(1) Roseau Fishery Complex: Ice making and cold storage facilities, fish handling/processing equipment, fish quality inspection equipment, workshop equipment, educational equipment, data processing system, one 2-ton refrigerated truck, one workboat
(2) Marigot Fishing Port: fish containers, platform scale, VHF radio equipment
