Vice President of GCCI
Ghana Chamber of Commerce & Industries (GCCI) held a workshop about KAIZEN, theJapanese technique and philosophy for quality and productivity improvement, in collaboration with JICA in Accra and Tema on 6th and 7th June respectively. Each workshop had more than 30 participants from the private sector. Participants raised many comments and questions about KAIZEN and they received satisfactory responses.
The workshops were organized by Mr. Charles Arthur Ntiri, Advocate General Head of Export Development & Certifications in GCCI. He participated in training in Japan named "Industrial Development Service" in February 2012. The training was placed in Osaka and Fukushima, the hometown of Dr. Noguchi who did research of a disease and passed away in Ghana and also an area hit by a huge earthquake and Tsunami in 2011. Charles was so impressed with Japanese management philosophy and technique that he organized the workshops for the private enterprises in Ghana to convey what he learned in Japan.
JICA has been implementing technical cooperation projects to disseminate KAIZEN in many countries. The workshop by GCCI made use of materials developed in one of the projects in another country.
In March, 2012, JICA started a project which entails the complete application of KAIZEN in Ghana. The project is named; "Project for Formulating a Strategic Model for Quality /Productivity Improvement through Strengthening BDS for MSES".
GCCI will hold a similar KAIZEN workshop for private enterprises in Takoradi on 21st June 2012.
